Management

Effective management requires tact, energy, and leadership. Harry Truman said that, "Leadership is getting a man to do what he doesn't want to do, and like it." Can leadership be taught? Many think that it can.

Management also requires an organization. A small family business may grow into a very large company, but to be successful it must function according to an appropriate and effective structure.

The chain of responsibility and authority is an important asset in any company, large or small. When everyone does the right thing, and takes responsibility for the outcome, the company is working correctly - and this is essential to profitability.

Underlying it all is job definition, training, and work satisfaction. If each person knows what to do, likes doing it, and is comfortable with superiors and subordinates alike, that company hums.
